College Life - A Home away from home?

I wonder how many of you reading this post are home sick, still. Well i've seen people who are home sick every week, who go home or to their cousin's place in Chennai every weekend, who do a lot of crazy things to not be home sick, like try eating at places with homely food etc etc. as for me, i've never felt home sick, expect for the 5mins on the 3 day of my hostel life in 11th. so, i didnt have problem adjusting to this college life, living all by yourself, staying alone in a single room and taking care of your daily chores, no one to fall back on if you screw up etc etc .. the list goes on as well all know. the difference being that a lot of people try changing their environment so much that they end up creating a home like atmosphere in their floor or in their room. well, at first thought you may think that this is a good thing but let me tell you, it is not. after having decorated and stuck posters(they're just posters of cars and superheros, no perverted t

Geek - Nerd. Know the difference

Well, i know that m,ost of you are too cool to be bother with the difference of calling someone a nerd or a geek. you probably think that there is no difference between the two words, that it just means a guy/girl (highly unlikely), who's crazily brainy, who's known to excel at a lot of topics (usually academics) and as someone with whom your conversations will (almost always) be on a specific topic, on life, on tech, on living etc etc. well, let me tell you the difference. and let me tell you that we, geeks, take it very seriously if we are called nerds. so, nerd - a person who is hard working, one with a highly academic oriented mind set and very studious. im pretty sure what i have defined here is what you think geeks are. but here comes the difference, geeks do what they do because they love it, they enjoy doing it, and that is why they excel at it. they have passion for whatever it is they are doing. a geek maybe a nerd but a nerd is not a geek. there are geeks who a

i wonder (about writing)

i wonder how many of you write at all in the first place, write when you are bored, write when you have a thought in your mind, write when you are not in the happiest of moods, write just for the saake of writing, cos believe me, it helps. and sometimes it's just fun reading up all the things you wrote from sometime back. some of you (or maybe most) may think this will be something like a diary and you writing in it may look, you know, girly.... so, what? it's you thinking that writing is girly, or mostly social convention that makes you think that only girls write diaries. first screw that, and try writing something, anything, or if you can, write nothing (you know, with those invisible pens which can only be read under purple or UV light :D) ... moving on, the other thing is that a lot of people (like myself) start a blog, try writing a couple of posts, not in specific about anything, but after a couple of posts, you'll start thinking that you have nothing to write but

my journeys from the past

well, to start with, i just thought that the title was kinda cliched. to clarify, this is not a post about my philosophical journeys or accounts from my past. it literally translates to (i think) the journey i undertook to different places in the past. that is all. period now to start the account, im sure that all of you are used to train journeys by now(assuming you're over 16, living in india, cos you know, it's not the cheapest option anywhere else in the world). probably once in a month or two, probably journey length of around 8-10 hours or unluckily more. but c'mon, once a month, 8 hours, probably a night time travel, you are going to do nothing but go and sleep through the journey, wake up in time to get off at your station and feel good that you didnt miss the station. well, let me tell you my accounts of how to travel on trains. i live(chennai) roughly 5 hours away from my native town(ongole) and i usually go home once or twice a month(4 times in the last month

more songs

So, i dont know exactly how to differentiate between songs of different genres and end up mixing them up. so i make up genres names on my own for reference. see, im a geek and we, in some cases need to be very organised and regular. so, like i wrote in the last post, i classified those songs as rock. i classify these as electronic, DJ and rap. i maybe completely wrong, but basically they all sound the same to me.                                                      Eminem - Lose yourself                                                   David Guetta - Gettin over you David Guetta - Love is Gone Run DMC, Aerosmith -Walk this Way!  Eminem - Without Me Eminem - We made you  and well, as you can see, i am an Eminem fan. people say that music influences life and it is probably true. as for the artist who has influenced me the most. and if someone asked me(someone did and her reaction was just precious :D) i would say Eminem. well yeah, the first

Netbooks and publicity

the netbook sales pitches are completely wrong. wait, first of all you people do know what netbooks are dont you? well, refer to Chromebook  by google and samsung. it is basically a different kind of operating system on the usual laptop. the differnce being that you cant use the OS without the presence of the internet, hence the name netbook(i think). and basically, chromebook flaunts cloud storage, google music and other awesome google apps, all open on the chrome web browser. you can access portable devices from them but you cant install programs of your interest on them. you cant play anything from a portable device other than read documents or importing music to upload to your cloud collection but otherwise you cant even watch movies using netbooks(or can you, i dont know. i dont have one!). having read all of this, what are you thinking of now? if you are a student, like me, you're probably thinking "that sucks, i am never going to buy that laptop. im going to a colleg

Invictus By William Ernest Henley

Out of the night that covers me, Black as the Pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds, and shall find, me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll. I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul. one of the my favorite poems. my daily prayer now-a-days.

it's that time of the year again

well, it's that time of the year again. to the IITM folk, i am not referring to saarang or shaastra and to the non IITM folk, i am not referring to valentine's day. no i hate that day. coming back to the issue at hand, it's the time of the year when i stop slacking off, move my ass, write some blog posts(not with my ass ofcourse) and spam them all at once leaving the reader to think that i regularly update this blog. and yeah, one other reason i havent written anything these days is because not everything i wrote couldve been posted online. and i have diverged a lot from what i initially wanted my blog to be. a place for me to store movie info and my collection of some good songs. so, let me now introduce to you a couple of songs i've heard in the past months. Foo Fighters - Walk Foster the People - Pumped Up Kicks  - kind of slow, classic rock Weezer - I'm your Daddy  - one of the stranger bands that i've stumbled upon in the past year, have some really g
